The One Where We Talk About Legacy and Electric G-Wagons

Episode 162

Grené Baranco, EVP of Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead, a family-owned dealership in Atlanta, shares the history of her family’s automotive business and her store’s shift to EVs. Starting in 1978, the company evolved from handling various car brands (including Pontiac) to becoming a successful Mercedes-Benz dealership. Grené discusses the shift toward EVs, explaining Mercedes-Benz’s strategic approach to introducing EVs and the encouraging customer response, with 15% of their new car sales now electric. She highlights the benefits of leasing EVs to keep pace with fast-evolving technology and shares her positive experience driving one. Grené also emphasizes the role of dealerships in supporting EV adoption by developing charging infrastructure, often allowing non-customers to use their stations. We also talked about the all new electric G-Wagon, (which has me smitten)! It’s got a classic G-Wagon design and a whole lot of electric power.
