Molly Boigon, Tech and Innovation Reporter at Automotive News is on the show today to talk about her article which highlighted several leading automakers, who were initially enthusiastic about exclusively transitioning to EVs, and are now adjusting their strategies due to various challenges including slow sales growth, high vehicle prices, and political uncertainties. General Motors and Ford have revised their projected production numbers downwards and delayed the release of new EV models, in some cases reintegrating combustion engines such as plug-in hybrids into their portfolios. Similarly, companies like Volkswagen and Honda have adjusted their investments, showing a renewed interest in combustion technologies and a reconsideration of strict all-EV goals. Despite these adjustments, (which is not the same as a pivot!) Molly and I also talked about the challenges of EV production coinciding with government incentives, the broader impact on the industry, and of course, what this means for YOU, the automotive executive.
