GM’s Pivot, BYD’s Price Drop and CATL’s Battery Switcheroo

Episode 187

I don’t know who needs to hear this today but General Motors has abandoned a plan to pump $300 million into electric vehicle motor production at its upstate New York plant and will instead invest $888 million to make the latest V-8 engines, saving jobs but raising eyebrows in the EV world. Next, BYD shakes up the market with up to 30% price cuts, sparking a global EV price war with Squid Game-level intensity. And finally, CATL steals the show with their Choco-Swap battery stations, promising two-minute swaps that could make range anxiety a thing of the past (assuming we get to see this in the U.S. at some point?)
